Institute Supports Environmental Initiative Conducted in Three Municipalities

The Business Center of Ilijaš Municipality hosted an environmental workshop for youth called “Be the change”. This is only one of the activities organized by the youth organization “Seize the Day – Carpe Diem” within their “Recycling Paper and Plastic” project.

The goal of the workshop is to encourage young people to work for environmental causes and learn about the importance of recycling paper and plastic into reusable material. During the workshop, youth were given a chance to share their opinions about the current situation in Ilijaš with regards to ecology, before proceeding to define environmental priorities and a potential plan for addressing ecological issues in their local community.

Members of Seize the Day – Carpe Diem independently prepared and conducted this peer workshop, and the young participants showed genuine interest in environmental topics and coming up with a plan to deal with environmental problems in Ilijaš.

The workshop included a session with Enisa Mešetović, Expert Associate for Education, Youth Issues and the NGO Sector at Ilijaš Municipality, who talked to the participants about the Municipality’s efforts to address these issues. She also noted the importance of young people spearheading these efforts and raising awareness of environmental protection.

“Recycling Paper and Plastic” will be implemented by “Seize the Day – Carpe Diem” in three communities: Ilijaš, Foča and Goražde, with the support of the Institute for Youth Development KULT and the Swedish Embassy in BiH.
