When the Unknown Becomes a Challenge

The trainers faced the challenge of teaching about topics that youth didn’t understand well enough previously, but note that the secret to a successful training is preparation, adapting the content to their teaching style and using a participative and engaging approach.

The training left different impressions on participants, some feel energized to advocate for legislative changes, some are surprised by the information they were provided about the situation in their own community, and some believe youth are responsible, rather than the government.

One of the most interesting activities for youth was Coffee Time With Jasmin Bešić, the Executive Director of the Institute for Youth Development KULT.

In a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, youth had a chance to learn more about the Institute, to ask questions and discuss youth issues, their position and future in BiH, and also to learn some lessons that Jasmin learned throughout his years of fighting windmills.

During the month of April, youth listened, discussed and engaged in practical work on issues presented during the module Youth Policies. The goal of this module was to teach participants how to use legal regulations on youth in BiH when accessing their rights in the community, how to get involved in the process of making decisions relevant to youth, how to recognize elements of good/bad youth policies and act to address it, how to recognize youth problems and needs, and they learned about the steps for developing a youth strategy/youth policy as a tool for improving the position of youth.
