Public Call 19.03.0-N2.1-22
REad and REthink
The Institute for Youth Development KULT is issuing a public call for participants of a four-day training for youth (18-30 years old), from eligible local communities. The training is organized within the project “Providing support to youth in local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina” implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the financial support of the Government of the United Kingdom. The training will offer young people an opportunity to hone their critical thinking skills, improve their political education and learn to adopt an analytical approach to information presented to them.
ABOUT THE TRAINING
Regardless of whether or not they have any political training or experience, this training will teach young people how to filter information provided by political leaders and/or representatives of political parties in BiH by using critical thinking, recognizing negative rhetoric, its impact on young people and the general population in BiH, and the type of atmosphere it fosters in terms of reconciliation and coexistence in BiH.
The training will provide youth with knowledge and skills in media literacy, analyzing political speech and communication, and critical thinking necessary for adopting a critically-minded approach to information. The participants will learn about how to analyze information, what tools to use, and how to access real and realistic data.
After the training, participants will have the opportunity to put to use everything they learned during the training and conduct a local civil initiative that will address a problem or a need they identified in their local community. Local civil initiatives (LCI) should be designed together with the young people from local communities community, and the Institute will support the participants with funds and mentorship.
WHEN?
The training will be offered in two time slots in two BiH cities:
- 6-10 February 2020 – MOSTAR, Hotel Bristol
- 13-17 February 2020 – BANJA LUKA, Hotel Jelena
Young people who apply will be able to choose where they want to attend the training, depending which dates work better for them. The training will last 4 days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
The times stated in the public call are not final, and the Institute reserves the right to change the dates and times of the workshops. The participants will be notified of any changes on time.
