Institute Hosts Event “Volunteer Now for Our Common Future”

In celebration of International Volunteer Day, the Institute for Youth Development KULT organized a conference called “Volunteer now for our common future.”

We began the conference by emphasizing the importance of volunteer work, especially during the coronavirus pandemic when a large number of volunteers supported their local communities.

The conference was held on December 6, and included a presentation of the latest survey on the position and needs of youth conducted by the Institute for Youth Development KULT – the first comprehensive survey on youth in the last 13 years.

On this day in 2020, the Institute for Youth Development KULT officially presented the ROUTE WB6 project with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), Ines Bulajić addressed the audience in a video message to reiterate the goals of the ROUTE WB6  and its cross-border volunteer exchange project.

The conference included a panel discussion on various aspects of volunteering, especially within the ROUTE WB6 project, and project participants used this opportunity to talk about their experience.

During group work, participants discussed the visibility of volunteers, their needs and ways to improve volunteer work in local communities.

For the past 36 years, December 5 has been celebrated worldwide as International Volunteer Day. International Volunteer Day was mandated by the United Nations Assembly on December 5, 1985. This day is an opportunity to promote volunteering and encourage competent institutions to support the work of volunteers and recognize their contribution to achieving sustainable development goals at all levels in the country.

To mark this year’s International Volunteer Day, the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with United Nations Volunteers in BiH and the Regional Youth Cooperation Office is organizing a series of activities that celebrate volunteers, their efforts, commitment and selfless contribution to society, as well as all others who organize, promote, encourage and value volunteering.

In 2021, the Institute and our partners actively worked on improving and developing volunteering and offering more opportunities for volunteers in BiH and the region.
