Today is November 25 – the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls! The Institute for Youth Development KULT’s campaign, “Safe Information Boards for Safe Buildings,” is increasingly attracting interest from citizens who want to participate in the fight against violence against women and girls. Today, the hardworking volunteers of the Educational-Leisure Center for Youth SPAJALICA installed signs in four more buildings in Sarajevo Canton.

A volunteer and senior at the Secondary Technical School of Graphic Technologies, Design and Multimedia in Ilidža launched this initiative, with the support of school staff, making her school the first in Sarajevo Canton to have an information board installed as part of this campaign.

“Every woman or girl who has experienced some form of violence feels alone, rejected and guilty. Besides relying on institutions for support, we as individuals should connect as much as possible, both through volunteering and in our daily lives, to show victims of violence that we stand with them and they have our support. Every person who reports violence demonstrates bravery and social responsibility, while also highlighting a serious problem that we are determined to solve!” said Lamija.

“I think young people are still not informed enough about this problem. We don’t talk about it enough and the best way to prevent any kind of violence is reporting it and reaching out to your loved ones. We have to continue raising awareness, and the installation of these information boards is a perfect opportunity for that,” said Lejla Omanović, a senior at the Secondary Technical School of Graphic Technologies, Design and Multimedia.
