Youth Development Center “DEKAMERON”, and Youth Center “KOSMOS” from Ključ, run a youth hostel in the camp Velagići. They have now offered their premises to the Medical Center Ključ and the municipal Civilian Protection Committee in Ključ, to host quarantined residents of Ključ during the coronavirus pandemic.
The building housing the hostel was entrusted by municipal authorities to these youth organizations. With the support of donors and the local government, the space was renovated and all the necessary facilities required for a hostel were provided. USAID and the Institute for Youth Development KULT, through the localworks initiative, supported the renovation of the Social Center located next to the hostel. The Social Center is a 170 m² space that can also be used in this difficult situation. The hostel has a surface of 220 m² – 9 rooms, 4 bathrooms, a kitchen with a large dining room and two storage rooms.
The Mayor of Ključ Municipality, Nedžad Zukanović, and Director of the Medical Center in Ključ, Behzad Hadžić, visited the space and decided that it meets the technical requirements for this purpose.
The message that the youth sector is sending is one of social solidarity and cooperation within the community, so we can all work together to end the coronavirus pandemic. They emphasize the need responsible behavior, following orders and advice provided by experts and crisis centers.
