The certified youth leaders attended eight 3-day training modules, 3 civic actions and a volunteer engagement, a training for peer trainers, a study trip and advanced advocating training during which they acquired knowledge, skills and experience in a methodologically versatile manner that will be necessary not only for social activism but also for a lifelong usage.

The topics of the module that was the part of KOĹ NICA were:

1.     Civil society and youth activism,

2.     Gender awareness,

3.     Teamwork and leadership,

4.     Public relations,

5.     Human rights and democracy,

6.      Youth work and youth policy,

7.      The issue of gender equality in youth strategy,

8.      Self-strengthening.

Training of active youth who work within the association presents for the society a professionalisation in the area of youth work. With this process the society acquires expert multipliers and persons who directly work with other youth. The training is a long-term process in which expert knowledge, practical exercises and experience are intertwined. It incites the development of democracy and civil society in order to strengthen the social interest of youth.

Youth leaders are girls who advocate for improvement of youth position in their communities. On the one hand, they work on creating a better offer for youth in order to have them complete their time usefully in the youth centre, or somewhere else, while, on the other hand, they cooperate with the authorities for institutional and long-term solution for the problem and satisfying youth needs.

The attendants acquired confidence, considered their abilities and potentials and learned to work in a team. They practically experienced solidarity, creativity, the ability to communicate, but also developed a sense of responsibility in relation to society. Besides, they learned to use arguments in discussion, to acquire and use information and necessary materials, and acquired the skills of management and conducting business. It all enables them to manage more easily in the business world and develop a successful career.

Project evaluation confirmed the achievement of general project goals, some of which were:

  • The girls acquired leadership in decision-making processes;
  • The girls were acknowledged as partners in dialogue with the “political society” through strengthened advocating and organisational abilities;
  • The girls were recognized as partners in implementing youth strategies/policies and state Action Plan for Gender Equality
  • The girls improved their abilities in taking responsibility
  • The girls became youth leaders and advocated for the rights of women and youth equality at all levels of authority in BiH;
  • The project increased the capacity of girls for an active involvement in implementing youth strategy/policy at a local level;
  • The girls were strengthened in advocating gender equality in local communities through youth councils and youth associations,
  • The girls were strengthened in active roles for development of democratic society

The results of the research conducted on conclusion of the project indicate that the participants display significantly high levels on all evaluated key areas before and after the training. Also, the girls that are currently hired in youth organisations demonstrate better results on evaluated fields.
