Amela Iskrić-Hadžić, a young architect from Jajce won the second prize for innovation and design in BH Telecom’s Start It Up contest. The contest was announced in the beginning of 2020 in an effort to encourage innovation in business models and the design of smart environments. Amela’s project “Viona – smart environment technology” won a 30,000 BAM cash prize. Viona is an innovative blend of a digital info-kiosk and a smart bench, designed to help tourists find reliable and useful information in their own language. The interactive screen can help them find and book accommodation and transportation, or to learn more about the city they’re visiting.
Amela launched her architectural drafting and design business in Jajce, with the support of the Institute for Youth Development KULT and the Municipality of Jajce, using funds provided by the Entrepreneurial Fund for Youth. The Entrepreneurial Fund for Youth uses joint funds of the local self-government units and the Institute for Youth Development KULT, with the support of the Swedish Embassy in BiH, to promote the development of entrepreneurship and employment of young people from 8 municipalities and cities in BiH.
