Public Call – Training for Expert Associates on Youth Work

Are you working for or are a long-term volunteer in a youth organization, youth center, youth club, or you implement projects for youth and with youth in an institution? You consider yourself a youth worker, or have the youth worker position in your organization? You want to meet people who do the same? You’re willing to share your experience and learn new skills in youth work? Apply to take part in the Expert Associate on Youth Work training!

Who are Expert Associates on Youth Work?

Expert associates on youth work, more commonly known as youth workers, are persons employed at youth centers, youth clubs, youth organizations, organizations working with youth or public institutions that support youth development. An expert associates on youth work supports the professional, personal and educational development of young people. By working with youth on different ideas and initiatives, expert associates on youth work join forces with youth in improving their communities.

What is the training for Expert Associates on Youth Work?

At the initiative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, Expert Associates on Youth Work was included in the classification of the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

The Institute is holding a 20-day (160 hours) training for expert associates on youth work. The training is designed to support youth workers and improve their knowledge and skills for developing the youth sector and youth work in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to four training modules, the participants receive practical tasks to complete in their communities after each module. After the final module, they sit the final test and receive certificates.

Who can apply for the training?

Persons eligible for the training are residents of BiH with a high school diploma, who work with youth in youth centers, youth clubs, youth organizations, organizations working with youth, NGOs, counseling centers and institutions that implement youth projects. Every applicant must have the support of an organization or institution relevant to at least one of the aforementioned categories. To successfully complete the training the participants must attend at least 80% of the training, performs practical work and pass the final test.

When will the training be held?

First module: 29 June – 1 July 2019

Second module: 18 September – 21 September 2019

Third module: 16 October – 19 October 2019

Fourth module: 13 November – 16 November 2019

All modules last four days. The dates listed above do not include participants’ travel time.

The Institute reserves the right to change the dates and time, of which participants will be duly notified.

The testing and certificate award ceremony will be held in the first half of December.

What can you expect from the training?

The training for expert associates on youth work comprise four training modules, practical work and testing.

The topics are: youth work, communication with youth, social competences and organizational skills in youth work.

Interactive work, non-formal education methods, experiential learning and exchange of experience will also be features of the training. In addition to the working sections, the training will provide content that allows the participants to exchange professional end personal experience and socialize.

The deadline for applying is 20 May 2019, 5:00 PM.

Applications sent after the deadline will not be taken into consideration. The names of selected participants will be published in the beginning of June, 2019, on the Institute’s website. Selected participants will be notified via email to the address they provided in the application form.

Who covers the cost of the training?

The Institute for Youth Development KULT covers the cots of accommodation, meals and travel during the training.

A participation fee of 50 BAM is paid to cover the costs of organizing the testing and certification. The payment is made before the beginning of the first module. The participation fee can be paid by the participant or their organization/institution. The organizer will issue a receipt upon payment. Payment instructions will be provided to participants in due time.
