The first in a series of Orange Days will be launched on Wednesday, 25 July, to support the prevention of violence against women and girls. This initiative will be launched by the Institute for Youth Development KULT from Sarajevo and Perpetuum Mobile from Banja Luka as part of the Global Youth Network UNITE campaign for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Having a symbolic name – the Orange Day, this world-scale action will be taken in a number of cities across the globe, with the aim of preventing violence against women and girls.
This campaign will be launched on 25 July and will be repeated every consecutive month leading up to the 57th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women: Elimination and Prevention of all Forms of Violence against Women and Girls to be held on 25 March 2013. We want to raise and develop the awareness of the growing issue and the negative trend of violence against women, not only once a year but every month. Considering the fact that this initiative will be launched worldwide on the same day, and in the same and symbolic fashion, with the help of the Global UNiTE Youth Network, it will be evolving on exceptional strength.
Nowadays, every third woman in the world is subjected to violence. Therefore, let us focus our attention on this growing issue and show solidarity by wearing at least one orange clothing item or accessory on 25 July. You will also express your support by posting your photos, to be taken during this campaign, on the Facebook fan page http://www.facebook.com/volontiranje.u.KULTU, or by sending them to nejra.kadic@kultbih.org.
These images should include the photos of you, your friends, neighbours or acquaintances wearing orange as the symbolic colour.
