Only Concrete Action Can Meet Youth Expectations

The political crisis in BiH can be solved only by thoroughly reforming the parties that have been in power for the past 20 years, or if we offer a completely different type of politics – there are no other options.” – said Boriša Falatar, candidate of Naša stranka for Presidency of BiH, during “Coffee Time With…” with young people of BiH.

This event was attended by youth from across BiH, and they wanted to hear about this candidate’s vision of foreign policy, education, ending the mass emigration of youth from BiH, and many other areas when youth are facing problems.

“Youth in BiH need events like this one. Similar events should be held in other cities and parts of the country, because youth there also have many problems and it’s important that they see that someone is thinking about their needs.” said one of the participants, who came to this event from Čelinac.

Youth also pointed out that they expect nothing less than concrete action from future elected officials, and that they will not agree to anything less than that because they are fed up with the current situation in politics.

In order to support youth in understanding the election process for the BiH Presidency, the Institute for Youth Development KULT intends to organize informal meetings of youth with presidential candidates from June through October 2018. The next Coffee Time with be held on July 3, when youth will have an opportunity to talk to Amer Jerlagić, presidential candidate of the Stranka za BiH party.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina there are 700,000 youth, defined by law as persons between 15 and 30 years of age. They majority of youth are part of the electorate, and the Institute for Youth Development KULT wants to give them a chance to make an informed decision. We believe that youth should and must be included in the programs of political parties in BiH and it’s high time for the top level of government to prioritize youth in their discourse.

“Coffee Time With…presidential candidate” will be held in Sarajevo, for approximately 90 minutes. All youth from BiH under 35 can apply to attend and be part of a constructive dialogue on the problems and challenges faced by youth.
