The streets of Vareš will soon have boards explaining their names, thanks to the Association of Youth Initiatives, one of the organizations that will receive funds from the Institute for Youth Development KULT, to implement their local civic initiative.
LCIs will be implemented by organizations from Nevesinje, Stolac, Blažuj, Grada?ac, Ugljevik, Bosanska Krupa, Visoko, Vareš and other parts of BiH.
These initiatives will receive financial support from the Institute for Youth Development KULT. On February 10, 2018, fifteen BiH organizations signed grant agreements for small LGIs.
These initiatives target problems youth identified in their local communities, which will be solved through active engagement of youth, and support by the Institute, local authorities and organizations.
By June 2018, schools in rural parts of BiH will have landscaped school yards, more culture and sports activities, better air quality, and some organizations will be working directly with people with intellectual disabilities.
Local civil initiatives (LGIs) are activities undertaken to improve the situation in the local community and the society. Civil activities are undertaken by individuals or groups, in order to address specific problems in their communities.
The Institute for Youth Development KULT supported 13500 youth in BiH and the region in their joint initiatives aimed at improving the position of youth in the society. Over the last 5 years, the Institute awarded over 2,500,000 BAM in grants to NGOs. This is a clear indication of citizens’ awareness and willingness (especially youth) to be the driving force behind positive changes in their local community.
