Joint Experiences towards Results

At UN in Sarajevo, on 9 September 2011 a meeting was held between the representatives of NGOs and UNFPA, UNWOMEN and UNV agencies. The first meeting of the working group for developing peer methodology for the purpose of preventing gender-based violence resulted in introduction to the existing state on the topic as well as with the recent activities focusing on its resolving.

Gender-based violence is internationally recognised as a serious social and human rights issue that fundamentally influences all societies. Until recently, gender-based violence was seen as a private problem, or a problem of a single family. Now it is generally accepted that gender-based violence is a social and health issue as well, and an infringement of human rights. The meeting was attended by a representative of KULT who is a member of the UNFPA Youth Advisory Board.
