Institute and Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH Cooperate on Improving Position of Youth

The Institute for Youth Development KULT and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina will work together on creating a more youth-friendly environment in BiH. The Memorandum of Cooperation and support to improving the position of youth was signed by Jasmin Bešić, Director of the Institute and Minister Adil Osmanović.

The signing of the Memorandum marks the beginning of institutional cooperation and joint action on defining and analysing sector youth policies, analysing the needs and problems of youth in BiH, development and cooperation with youth councils in BiH and other authorities competent for youth issues in BiH, professionalisation of youth work and support to the development of the youth sector in BiH.

This cooperation will result in the first nation-wide analysis of the needs and problems of young people. As noted by the Institute’s Director, Jasmin Bešić, in addition to analysing youth needs, cooperation will be reflected in advisory support in the implementation of the established legal framework regarding youth issues, support in creating strategic documents for youth in BiH, informing young people in a youth-friendly way about the measures implemented by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and the NGO sectors, and advocating for adequate funds for youth issues and promoting youth policies.

The Memorandum of Cooperation is one of the steps in detecting actual needs of youth that need to be defined, and create measures for fostering a higher quality of life that will keep youth from leaving the country.

“The main motive is getting an analysis of the needs of youth that would be acceptable to all levels of government in BiH, and used as the foundation for all future youth policies. We are facing a problem in the form of youth leaving the country – primarily qualified youth, and the analysis mentioned in the Memorandum we signed is intended to reveal the reasons behind this problem and offer recommendations for activities aimed at improving the status of young people”, said Minister Osmanović.

The Institute for Youth Development KULT has been working on creating a better environment for youth in BiH for the past 15 years, primarily by cooperating with government institutions and developing strategic documents and laws.
