FBiH Law on Volunteering Adopted

Volunteers from the Federation of BiH have finally been provided with the legal solution according to which volunteering undertaken in their professional fields will be recognised as their work experience.

The Law on Volunteering of the Federation of BiH was adopted at the 12th session of the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH with 45 votes in favour, one abstained and none against.

Upon relying on the best EU practices, latest recommendations on volunteering and upon developing interdependence between the needs and traditions of volunteerism and volunteer activities in FBiH, we have obtained a modern Law.

Its advantage is numerous and varied, since the terms volunteer and volunteering have been defined for the first time, and it also says that activities to be carried out by volunteers will be recognised as socially useful. Moreover, in order to prevent volunteer abuse, profitable companies can no longer offer volunteer programmes.

We would like to thank all the organisations dealing with volunteering for their great support and efforts they have made to enable volunteers to secure the best possible legal solution.
