Data on Young Voters at Elections 2002-2010

The election campaign for the Local Elections 2012 has been launched and political parties are inviting the citizens to go out and vote. When Barack Obama was supported by young people and when he won the U.S. Presidency Elections in 2008, it became obvious that young people can decide on election winners.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, messages prompting young people to vote can often be seen and heard. The number of young voters at the General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2002 was 409.138 while at the General Elections 2010 that number reached 688.459. The percentage of young voters has increased but not to the extent which would make us pleased or which would result in significant changes. Regardless of this, we hope that the upward trend in the number of young voters will continue to grow even during the elections that are ahead of us.

The tables show the age and gender structure among voters at the 2002-2010 elections.
