Bosnia and Herzegovina has been at the forefront for a long time when it comes to poor statistics on young people. However, the report released by the European Commission in September 2012 finds that the situation even in the EU is not so great as well. The report published by the Commission every three years highlights the fact that the EU and its Member States have to make greater efforts in order to provide support to young people who have experienced the burden of the economic crisis.
Latest figures released by Eurostat show that youth unemployment in the EU among 15-24-year-olds has increased by 50% since the onset of the crisis, from an average of 15% in February 2008 to 22.5% in July this year. The highest rates are recorded in Greece (53.8%) and Spain (52.9%).
