World Day of Contraception Celebrated in IlidĹľa

September 26th is the World Contraception Day. The celebration of this day in Sarajevo was joined by NGOs from IlidĹľa: Institute for Youth Development KULT, Red Cross IlidĹľa, Partnership in Health, Y-Peer and the Public Healthcare Institute of Sarajevo Canton. We would like to extend our gratitude to the City of Sarajevo whose institutions supported the campaign.

The World Contraception Day was celebrated through three parallel activities. One of them was a street campaign aimed at increasing youth’s consciousness about STIs and the types of protection available to them. In order to emphasise the importance of this day, a round table was also held, which included youth and their parents, representative of the nongovernmental, healthcare and education sector, and representatives of parents’ councils from Ilidža.

Raising awareness about the use of contraception and protecting one’s health is our primary goal. Our obligation is to inform the youth of Sarajevo Canton, point out the issue of STIs and continually educate youth on contraception. That is why the City of Sarajevo will support all activities related to reproductive health, stated Ranko ?ovi?, PhD, Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo.

The third activity was the distribution of informative flyers to people’s homes. Volunteers handed out fliers in local communities pertaining to IlidĹľa Municipality.
