Today, the working group of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, with the participation of a human rights and advocacy organisation “Rights for All”, finalised the harmonisation of the document detailing the public policy in the area of foster care.
This document defines problems, goals and directions to be taken towards creating a better legal framework for foster care. The goal of the law is improving the position of disadvantaged children and adults without adequate parental and family care in FBiH.
Due to the willingness of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy to include the civil society in this process from the very beginning, “Rights for All” have been participating in the activities of the working group as equal partners, and providing expert support to the Ministry throughout the entire process, which resulted in a high level of cooperation, openness and trust. The Institute for Youth Development KULT was included in the meeting through an exchange of experiences, and by providing technical assistance, since the meeting was held in the Educational-Leisure Centre for Youth SPAJALICA, which solidified the cooperation of civil society organisations and the federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
The multitude of problems citizens face in their everyday life call for creating better public policies and laws in almost all areas of life in BiH. The civil society can give a significant contribution to these processes. Rights for All and the Institute for Youth Development KULT, with the support of USAID’s project Strengthening Governing Institutions and Processes in BiH, are actively participating in developing public policies in different areas on the level of FBiH.
