The Institute Is Participating In the Preparation of the B+20 Report

The Institute for Youth Development KULT is one of the non-governmental partners to the Agency for Gender Equality in the making of the report on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and action platform in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The report better known as B+20 is an overview of the progress after the 20th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women when the Beijing Declaration and its action platform were adopted.

The Agency for Gender Equality and UN WOMEN, in collaboration with the NGO sector from this area are actively preparing the report on the progress and removing obstacles for equal participation of men and women in the economic, cultural and political decision-making, and achieving equal rights of men and women in public and private life.

The Institute for Youth Development KULT has shared its former achievements and challenges for the future period in achieving gender equality, especially within the frame of its expertise; youth and gender equality.

The activities of the Institute are reflected in reaching changes at two levels, namely: the political and the implementation level. In order to ensure long-term sustainability and continuous implementation of best practices, in cooperation with all levels of government in BiH and the region (Croatia and Serbia), the Institute is working on drafting, amendment and adoption of policies and strategies that are legally regulating youth and gender equality. This process uses the gender- responsible policies that treat different areas of improving equality in all processes of the state. Such are Gender Action Plans, Second Action Plan for Implementing UN Resolution 1325 Women, Peace and Security, a youth strategy at different levels of government that are gender- responsible, youth policy documents that have gender- responsible budgets, etc. Since the adoption of policies by itself does not guarantee progress, if the politics is not implemented on the field, the Institute is committed to the full implementation of the idea of ??gender-responsive policies in the real world. In doing so, it strengthens leadership competencies of young women, educates youth (and young men and women) on gender- responsible policies, educates civil servants / youth officers on the tools and mechanisms responsible for the implementation of gender budgeting in the documents of the youth policy, contributes to the political empowerment of young men and women, In Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the period that the report will include, from 1995 to 2015 a great progress was achieved, at both the political and the implementation level. In addition to the important area of legal regulation essential in creating a society that will characterize the value of gender equality are to raise public awareness and changing perceptions and tolerance towards violence and domination of sex discrimination on this basis. The created report which is scheduled to be ready by the end of April is the outcome of the cooperation between the various actors in this field who participated in its development. The report will summarize what is done so far and represent a starting point for further deliberate targeting and strategic objectives. The report will be presented at the 59th session of the Commission on the Status of Women of the United Nations 2015.
