The Role of Education in Promoting Global Peace and Tolerance in South-East Europe

The International Conference “The Role of Education in Promoting Global Peace and Tolerance in South-East Europe” was held on 21 and 22 May 2012, in Sarajevo. The Conference organisers were the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue – DICID and the University of Sarajevo. The Conference brought together prominent professors from 14 countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Israel, Jordan, Qatar, Lebanon, Macedonia, Palestine, United States, Slovenia, Serbia and Turkey) as well as students and the representatives of non-governmental organisations. The Conference will have a strong impact on the capacity building of peace at the regional level, which is one of the fundamental goals of education, wherever it is undergoing implementation. Institute for Youth Development KULT attended the Conference at the invitation of the DICID. KULT was introduced to the DICID for the first time upon taking part in a TV show The Doha Debates.
