Support to Unemployed Women

Funds from the Intervention Fund for Female Enterpreneurship, that will be used to start the self-employment process for at least four unemployed women, were awarded at the ceremony held on 27 June at the Franciscan International Student Centre. The fund-awarding ceremony was organised by the INFOHOUSE Association and CURE Foundation. The two socially liable associations started the Intervention Fund for Female Enterpreneurship initiative in order to aid unemployed women and women with minimal pensions or social care. The aim is to help them in starting their own businesses, as a response to the increasingly difficult economic situation of women in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

35 unemployed women applied for the funds that amount to 2,000 BAM per person. The awards to unemployed women were presented by Danuta Moon, the wife of the American Ambassador in BiH Patrick S. Moon and representatives of the Institute for Youth Developemnt KULT in IlidĹľa and Novi Grad Municipality, the institutions that, besides the American Embassy, invested most in the Intervention Fund for Female Enterpreneurship.

“I am glad to be considered a friend of the Fund and I believe that women were born for enterpreneurship, because every woman who can manage a household is also capable of planning. Women are selfless and pragmatic and they should be provided support in becoming economically strong”, stated Danuta Moon.

DĹľenana Ala?uz, the INFOHOUSE Director, stated that she was surprised by the profile of those who made payments to the fund: “They are represenatatives from private companies and institutions, the whole of BiH is here and it is time to forget ‘who is who'”, she said.

According to the official data of the bureau and employment agencies, most of the unemployed at the bureaus are women, 187,630 or 51.11%, as the CURE Foundation informs.
