Representatives of Institute Attend “Coordinating Education with Labor Market Requirements” Round Table

The round table on the topic “Coordinating education with the requirements of the labor market” was held during the 9th Employment Fair organized by the Sarajevo Canton Employment Bureau. The presenters were Mahir Lokvan?i?, representative of the Sarajevo Canton Employment Bureau, Rusmir Pobri?, Business Development Manager at Net Consulting, Narcisa Baši? Gakovi?, the Project Manager of the Centre for Professional Educations “Format” and Lejla Muzaferija, the Office Manager of LINK Group. The round table was also attended by Belma Gijo, the representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT. The aim of the meeting was an open discussion regarding the rising need to find methods of coordinating education with the requirements of the labor market.

Many issues were addressed during the meeting, some of which are:

Does the lack of entry quotas result in “production” of educational profiles that the employers do not in fact require?

Will non-formal education through the Law on Adult Education manage to “fill the gaps” of formal education?

Should the state motivate employers to employ the long-term unemployed persons?

It was concluded at the round table that it will require for all institutions, especially the educational ones, to follow these steps faster and more efficiently, since vast unemployment rates are not and cannot be exclusively the responsibility of employment bureaus.
