“Virtual Reality and Security- Show That You Care!”

The Institute for Youth Development KULT, in cooperation with the association Motus Adulescenti, is organizing a panel discussion for the purpose of acquring the best possible guidelines for creating a national strategy for battling all types of discrimination, hate speech and violence in the virtual world, but also to raise awareness about the consequences this type of behaviour has on the lives of young people. This event will take place on Thursday, 27 June 2013, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The panellists will be representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Security of BiH, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, the OSCE, the BiH Press Association, the BiH Press Committee.

Prior to the panel discussion, at 12:00 p.m, 60 young people working in 4 groups at the Educational-Leisure Centre SPAJALICA will deal with the following issues:

  • the problem of not being able to identify hate speech on the Internet,
  • the proposal of legislative regulations and the obligations of government institutions in the process of preventing hate speech,
  • working with youth on preventing hate speech,
  • planning a NO HATE SPEECH campaign in BiH.

Bearing in mind the fact that we all need to play a more active role in the battle against Internet misuse and the prevention of hate speech on social networks, as well as hate speech in general, we invite all young people to join the work groups and attend the panel discussion. This way you will be giving support to the campaign and participating in the creation of a strategic framework in the battle against hate speech on the Internet.

The youth association „MOTUS ADULESCENTI“ has been conducting the initiative “Virtual Reality and Security- Show that You Care” since October 2012, aiming to point out to young people the dangers of the Internet, to help them use it properly, and to direct youth activity on social networks toward a better informedness of young people. This initiative is being conducted as part of one of the two leading European Council initiatives.
