Prime Minister Nikši? with Volunteers

Prime Minister of FBiH Nermin Nikši? hosted today, on International Volunteer’s Day, the management of the Association Volunteers and Friends of Konjic, supported their activities and promised an even greater support to volunteering in FBiH.

The delegation, lead by Head Coordinator Adis Muhibi?, consisted of Mustafa Kurti?, Zuhra Omerovi?, Mirsad ?ukle, Sead Baljeta, Elvira ?osi?, Azemina Baljeta and Mirnes Baji?.

This organisation that counts over 150 members, so far, during the five years of its existance, has distinguished itself through numerous volunteering actions in its surroundings. They were awarded with two titles for the best volunteers in BiH and with an award “The City of Youth”. They also played a significant role in organising the Biennale of Modern Art in Konjic that the Council of Europe declared to be a culture event of Europe.

Representatives of volunteers of Konjic introduced the Prime Minister with the numerous activities that focus on the wellfare of citizens, particularly children. By developing solidarity and humanitarianism, the volunteers of Konjic significantly improved the life of the city, returning its soul, vibrance, joy, trust as well as rebuilding the broken social network and reviving the hope in a better tomorrow.

The delegation also presented the problems with which all volunteer and similar associations encounter, especially in the context of adopting the Law on Volunteering and the requirement to implement Youth Law.

Prime Minister Nikši? expressed his support to the volunteers and praised their selflessness, humanitarianism, a positive and constructive approach to life issues and promised help in affirming volunteer work even more. He emphasized that they, with their example, demonstrate to other citizens that through good projects one can do much for one’s environment and the society in general. He also supported their appeal to enact the Law on Volunteering in FBiH, that would acknowledge volunteering as internship and to implement the Youth Law in BiH more persistently.

After visiting the Prime Minister of the Government of FBiH, the delegation was hosted at the central office of UN Volunteers for BiH by the Office Director Elizabeth Siebenmann, as well as by the Chairman of Municipal Council of Konjic, Ivica RuĹľi?.

This concluded the Week of Volunteer Activism in Konjic.
