Lecture for Youth “Are We in Danger?” held at SPAJALICA

Today, the Educational-Leisure Centre for Youth SPAJALICA in Ilidža, hosted the second lecture on the topic “Are we all in danger?”. The lecture was held in cooperation with the Discipline Centre for Underage Youth, and intended for 7th, 8th and 9th graders of primary schools in Ilidža.

As part of the Youth Strategy of the IlidĹľa Municipality, a special activity was aimed at creating a survey on peer violence among primary school seniors. The Educational-Leisure Centre for Youth SPAJALICA conducted a survey, this year in May, which yielded disheartening results – 1 in 3 persons experienced some form of violence. That is why we decided to start with a series of lectures which would help youth cope with such situations. The Discipline Centre was an obvious partner for such educational lectures in SPAJALICA. There, we will hold three lectures on the topic of violence, said Vesna Filipovi?, Manager of the Educational-Leisure Centre for Youth SPAJALICA.

The cycle of three lectures which will be held once a month in SPAJALICA is only a small step towards fighting and preventing peer violence.

I have been engaged in educating on this topic since 2006, aiming to raise consciousness about acceptable forms of behaviour and the consequences of choosing to behave in an inappropriate way. Our activities are primarily focused on prevention, and show children acceptable and unacceptable forms of behaviour. A lot can be done to help children with mild forms of unacceptable behaviour, while those with more serious forms of unacceptable behaviour have to be treated institutionally, with advice, through an individual approach, emphasized Aldijana ?eki? – senior expert – educator from the Discipline Centre for Underaged Youth.

The overwhelming response of primary school seniors and school counsellors to the topic of violence is a clear indication that youth want to learn more about this problem, and we hope they will find these lectures useful.
