Institute’s Work Acknowledged In ?akovo, Croatia

Kristina Dilber, a youth leader certified by the Institute’s Gender-Responsive Budgeting for Youth training programme, was elected for the City of ?akovo Youth Council membership.

Based on Article 32 of the City of ?akovo Statute (City of ?akovo official herald no. 6/09., 3/12. and 2/13.) and Article 6 of the Youth Council of ?akovo Decision (City of ?akovo official herald no. 6/07.). At their 9th session, the City Council of ?akovo adopted the Resolution on Youth Council of City of ?akovo Membership Election. A youth leader of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, Kristina Dilber, is one of the nine members of this body’s new assembly. Kristina has thus become a part of the advisory body of the City Council existing with the cause of involving youth in the public life of the city of ?akovo.

Kristina will have an opportunity during her mandate to discuss issues significant for Youth Council’s work, matters from City Council’s work significant for youth, state her opinion on adopting different acts relevant for youth, suggest decision-making, programmes, financial plan and other acts significant for promoting youth position, encourage collaboration of municipality, city and county youth councils in the Republic of Croatia, etc.

Examples such as this prove the Institute’s success in creating an open society in which qualified citizens are involved in all public life decision-making processes.

„I would like to inform you, e.g. inform and thank you for empowering me as a girl and encouraging me to apply for the Youth Council of the City of ?akovo contest, where I was elected for membership on behalf of Association for Youth ?akovo. This is yet another proof that your project was successful. Thank you!” stated Kristina Dilber in her e-mail.

Within the A.R.L.A. festival at the Museum of ?akovština at ?akovo in August, an exhibition of young artists was opened and displays our Kristina’s artwork, as she is a student of the Art Academy in Rijeka, Croatia.

Kristina reaps the fruits of her activism, a combination of formal and non-formal education, work and effort, and new challenges are already ahead of her. We are counting on you, Kristina!
