Another Local Government in Una – Sana Canton Prioritizing Systemic Care for Youth: City of Cazin Developing Youth Strategy

The Institute for Youth Development KULT conducted a survey on the position and needs of Cazin’s youth in partnership with the Youth Council of the City of Cazin. The results and analysis of the survey will inform the first strategic document for youth in Cazin.

Young people account for 23.3% of Cazin’s population, making it one of the communities with the highest proportion of young residents. The City of Cazin’s decision to develop a youth strategy is a positive step that will provide a fresh perspective on engaging with young people.

The city of Cazin is one of the more developed communities in the Una-Sana Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Recently, it has shown strong support for youth by supporting the Youth Council and local youth projects. The City of Cazin also supports young people through scholarships and subsidies in education, employment, and sports.

By developing a youth strategy and researching their needs, the City of Cazin showed commitment to improving programs that effectively address the needs of Cazin’s youth.

In addition to government institutions and the City Administration, young people will be involved in the drafting process through a representative from the Youth Council of the City of Cazin. Young people will also be involved in upcoming events, with details shared through the City’s and Youth Council’s communication channels.

The youth strategy will cover all areas important in the lives of young people, such as education, employment, security, social and health care, sports and culture, as well as activism, volunteering, information, and participation of young people in decision-making.

A youth strategy is a document intended to guide government efforts in youth care, developed and adopted by each level of government in the Federation of BiH, in cooperation with youth representatives and based on a thorough analysis of the current position and needs of young people.
