Number of Students Declining in Travnik Municipality, Youth Not Ready for Marriage

 

Close to 50% of youth in the municipality of Travnik are unemployed, according to the Analysis of the survey on the needs and problems of youth in the municipality of Travnik.

The Analysis showed that over 90% of youth leave the education system, the number of elementary and secondary school students is on the decline, and around 70% of youth are unmarried.

The Analysis was conducted for the purpose of developing Travnik’s Youth Strategy, and the quality of the document is evident in the fact that the working group for the Strategy, in addition to competent ministries and institutions, includes many youth who wanted to actively participate in developing this document. These are young people with a university education, who decided to use their knowledge for developing and improving their local communities.

According to the Analysis, this municipality has 11000 young people, which is 20% of the entire population.

The survey was administered to 504 young people, by the Institute for Youth Development KULT as a consultant in the entire process of developing the Youth Strategy for this municipality.

The Strategy will be developed by the Center for Youth Education in cooperation with the Youth Commission of the Municipality of Travnik, with active participation of CSOs, sports clubs, cultural, medical and educational and other public institutions. The development of the Strategy is supported by the UNDP as a part of the ReLOaD project (Regional Program on Local Democracy in the Western Balkans).

A Youth Strategy is a document developed by the government, detailing a programme approach to youth issues, including defined problems and needs of youth, strategic action and goals, and measures for achieving these goals.
