HIV/AIDS and Social Communication

International Organisation for Migration (IOM) organised a training course on HIV/AIDS and social communication as part of the project entitled HIV/AIDS National Capacity Building and Awareness Raising Activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Mobile Populations. The training course organised at Termag Hotel Jahorina was attended by the representatives of KULT, under the project Info-Point for Youth.

The training course included all aspects of social communication, ranging from defining the problem related to the risk of HIV infection that emigrants and mobile populations are exposed to, through to designing and developing communication strategies, defining messages and the corresponding objectives, selection of the most appropriate and most effective means of communication such as traditional media, social networks and direct communicating with the target population.

The participants were representatives of NGOs, the Media and Public Relations Sector of the Institute of Public Health, and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska as well as the Ministry of Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This training course welcomed a Senior Lecturer from IOM Rome and an expert on communications and psychology from the international network of communication agencies; MSL groups.

The Project is funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in BiH (GFATM), the funds in BiH are managed by UNDP and the Project is implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
