Transparency International in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the CPI Foundation, the Centre for Social Research Analitika and the Centre for Investigative Journalism – in partnership with the Open Society Fund BiH and the regional project „Advocacy for Open Government: supporting the right to know in South East Europe“ held a conference which aimed to advocate for the membership of BiH in the multilateral initiative Open Government Partnership (OGP), and taking on commitments to government openness.
The Open Government Partnership is a global multilateral initiative for transparency and openness of public administration institutions, wherein party states took on the commitment of enacting concrete measures and implement activities in the area of transparency, strengthening citizen participation in governing processes, fighting corruption and introducing new technologies, all with the goal of enhancing the efficiency of the government. The OGP initiative comprises 63 member states, with the number growing each year. Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently the only country in the region which is not a member of the Partnership as yet.
The Open Government Partnership Conference, attended by representatives of the government, public institutions, the civil society and the international community in BiH, as well as international experts and participants of the Open Government Partnership initiative, attempted to offer insight into international standards of the openness of governments and comparable practices in countries that are already included in this initiative, as well as to encourage a debate on the challenges and opportunities for BiH, with respect to the principles promoted by the Partnership.
A representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT was among the attendees of the Conference.
