The representative of the Institute introduced the participants of the (Project on Peacebuilding) to the topics of gender equality policy in youth work and youth activism. The project arose from the year-long cooperation between the organisations Humanity in Action and Bridge of Peace, and the participant of this year’s program are young people from BiH and other parts of the world, who are participating in the programmes of the organization Humanity in Action. The interactive programme on various issues relevant to peacebuilding included 20 young people from Prijedor.
Gender equality and the position of women and men in BiH, particularly among youth, was one of the topics that the project participants were interested in. The Institute presented the position of youth in BiH, providing the participants with information yielded by the analysis of the needs and position of youth in FBiH. The participants also learned about the priority needs of youth and the roles men and women have in the society. Interactive exercises contributed to the dynamic and the exchange of experiences among participants. They were familiarized with stereotypes and prejudice which breed gender inequality and problems which arise from the historically unequal division of labour between the sexes. The participants also had an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the initiatives and campaigns of the Institute for Youth Development KULT, including the project Strengthening Governing Institutions and Processes in BiH (SGiP), implemented in partnership with the Center for International Development of the State University of New York (SUNY/CID).
