KULT Marks World HIV/AIDS Day

World HIV/AIDS day is marked on each December 1st worldwide and is a global health day.

In marking the World Aids Day, the Institute for Youth Development KULT walked the streets of IlidĹľa Municipality. The volunteers of the Institute for Youth Development KULT thereby presented the slogans to point out the HIV/AIDS problem in our country.

The World AIDS day was first marked in 1988 to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS and provide support to the ones affected and respect the ones who died of this harsh disease’s consequences that could become part of anyone’s life. This day is marked each year to reach the final goal, zero AIDS mortality and zero new HIV cases, and more importantly, zero cases of the very much present discrimination for the potentially infected in our society, stated Sunita Koristovi? – Institute’s project coordinator.

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the cause of the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) and the beginning of an end to this disease may be close. This is why we must keep up the level of commitment to solving the problem, as it is emphasized at the Institute for Youth Development KULT.

In late 2013, it was estimated that in the western and central Europe and North America, over 2.3 million people live with HIV. The USA have the greatest percentage at 56%-infected people. After the USA, the numbers in Europe are prevalent in France, Spain, United Kingdom and Italy with 5% of the infected.
