European Future is Future of Youth!

A representative of the Institute for Youth Development KULT participated in the Berlin Youth Conference, which took place from 17 to 20 October 2013 and was attended by more than 60 young people from EU member states and other European countries whose future lies in EU. The topic of this conference was the future of Europe from the perspective of youth and its impact on the future of young people.

The open discussions, workshops, forums and presentations about the socio-economic situation and the state of youth in each country gave the participants a chance to exchange their opinions and concerns about the economic and financial crisis in EU, but also about the lack of democracy and the future of EU. It was emphasized that the advantages of EU membership are social prosperity and the unity in diversity which EU stands for. The participants concluded that, although there are problems in EU, there is no alternative to the Europe united into the EU community. 

Youth representatives had a chance to hear more about sustainable green economy and energy efficiency in Europe. Furthermore, a part of the programme was dedicated to the persperctive of non-EU countries in Europe, durgin which young people had a chance to discuss the condition of these countries, the mood of their citizens and their willingness to enter EU, but also to discuss the future of these countries in general. 

The International Youth Conference was organized by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung organization, in cooperation with Young European Federalists (YEF), the Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG) and European Alternative(EA).
