A representative of the Institute attended yesterday’s reception, occasioned for the opening of the Conference on FBiH Constitution Reforms. The hosts of the reception were the US Embassy in BiH, EU Delegation in BiH and UK Embassy in BiH.
The conference was opened by US Ambassador Patrick Moon with a welcome speech and the guests were further addressed by Deputy Head of UK Embassy Jo Lomas, Head of EU Delegation and Special Representative of EU in BiH Peter Sorensen, and by PhD Kasim Trnka, a member of the Expert Group.
The US Embassy in BiH has formed an Expert Work Group, which consists of prominent experts from the field of law, whose task is to prepare suggestions for the reform of the FBiH Constitutional Organization with an emphasis on the improvement of functionality, efficiency and cost efficiency of FBiH. The suggestions of the Expert Group should be politically pragmatic and supported by all citizens. The group began its work in mid – January this year, and in this four month period it has concluded talks and meetings with government representatives at municipality, canton and federal level, as well as with NGO sector representatives. For the sake of ensuring transparency, the Group has set up a blog to notify the public about their work.
On the second day of the Conference, a draft of the Expert Group’s suggestions will be presented. It consists of 181 suggestions for change which should, if applied, provide a more functional, rational and democratic organization of FBiH.
