Round Table Discussion on Draft Law on Protection of Children and Minors in Criminal Proceedings

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Justice and UNICEF, organised on 18 June 2012 the round table discussion on the Draft Law on Protection of Children and Minors in Criminal Proceedings. The discussion centred upon the analysis of legal decisions on police detention of juveniles, juvenile prisons and the principles of expediency in criminal proceedings. “This is one in a series of round table discussions that should clarify all the issues that have remained incomplete so that the Law could be successfully enforced. The Ministry of Justice argues that this law should be submitted for the parliamentary procedure in the form of a proposal as soon as possible,” said the Federal Minister of Justice, Mr. Zoran Mikuli?.

The round table discussion was attended by Alma ?ardĹľi?, Amela Meši?, Hazim Kapi? and Mirza Ustamuji?, the parliamentarians from the FBiH Parliament, and the representatives of the Institute for Youth Development KULT. Note that educational recommendations do not exclude criminal sanctions but giving another chance contributes to a proper development of a child’s whole personality.
