Velika Kladuša Creating Opportunities For Their Youth

Velika Kladuša is taking concrete steps to improve the lives of young people.  A new local youth strategy is now in development, and after eight years, the town’s youth center is reopening.  This important milestone was marked by the signing of a contract between the Institute for Youth Development KULT and the Municipality of Velika Kladuša, signaling the start of a comprehensive initiative aimed at creating better conditions for youth in this local community.

The youth strategy is far more than a formal requirement—it is a legal obligation that, when implemented effectively, becomes a powerful tool for improving the quality of life for young people.

Its development is based on research into the real needs and challenges faced by youth, and it is created through a working group that includes young people, experts, and institutional representatives.  This ensures the strategy is practical, relevant, and grounded in real needs.

In parallel with the development of the strategy, the Institute, the Municipality, and the Youth Council of the Municipality of Velika Kladuša are bringing the local youth center back to life.  After being closed for eight years, the center will once again become a vibrant space for young people—thanks to joint financial investment by the Institute and the Municipality. It will serve as a hub for connection, learning, creativity, and civic engagement.  The goal is to spark new energy among young people in Velika Kladuša and provide opportunities to spend their free time in meaningful, constructive, and inspiring ways.

This joint initiative highlights the importance of strong partnerships between government and civil society, and reflects a clear commitment to strengthening institutional support for youth.  Through upcoming activities, young people will be empowered to take an active role in shaping their future.

The Municipality of Velika Kladuša and the Institute had a strong partnership up until eight years ago.  With the signing of this new agreement, they we are continuing our collaboration with a shared goal: creating better opportunities for young people in Velika Kladuša.

To date, the Institute for Youth Development KULT has provided expert support for the development of youth strategies in over 60 local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.  In the past decade, we have financially supported more than 800 projects and initiatives throughout the country.
