The Municipality of Doboj Istok is focused on improving opportunities for young people. The first meeting of the Development Team and working groups formed to develop a youth strategy was held today, showing this local government’s commitment to this goal.
By developing a youth strategy, the Municipality of Doboj Istok aims to create new opportunities for young people in education, employment, healthcare, social welfare, security, activism, culture, and sports. Working groups were formed for each area, consisting of experts, municipal councilors, and representatives from youth organizations and the non-governmental sector.
The first working meeting introduced the Development Team and working groups to the phases of developing the strategy, their tasks, and the importance of their role in making Doboj Istok a youth-friendly community.
The first task of the Development Team and working groups will be to map out the existing responses to the needs of young people in the community. Together with the analysis of the position and needs of young people, this information will serve as a solid foundation for creating a strategic platform and identifying key areas of focus for actions aimed at supporting youth.
Young people will be actively involved in shaping better opportunities in their communities through their representation in working groups. Dialogues between young people and authorities will further contribute to developing effective solutions. Young people will be actively included and their participation in civic, economic, social, and political life will be promoted. The local government is focused on building young people’s capacities and aligning their activities with the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 to achieve the European Youth Goals.
Amir Mujić, youth advisor for the Municipality of Doboj Istok, noted that the first meeting of the working group was an important opportunity to discuss the future opportunities the community aims to offer to young people. He also expressed appreciation for the support of the Institute for Youth Development KULT in making these efforts a reality.
Doboj Istok is supported in their efforts by the project “Designing, Developing and Adopting Youth Policies”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network of youth centers for animation, development and training of Republika Srpska (M.O.C.A.R.T.) and the Association of Secondary School Students in BiH.
