The third and final module of the “Learn, Think and Act” training for young leaders (UMiD19) delivered another enriching experience for all participants, reinforcing how crucial it is to integrate theory and practice in personal and leadership development. The module began in the unique setting of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Museum of Literature and Performing Arts, where participants attended the Youth Activism Award ceremony. This event was a chance for participants to meet inspiring young changemakers who are making a real difference in communities across BiH.
Dunja Jalimam led the first session on human rights. Through engaging presentations and hands-on activities, participants explored the universal importance of human rights while examining the everyday challenges we face in protecting and promoting them. This session laid crucial groundwork for understanding young leaders’ role in social responsibility.
The second session, facilitated by Aziz Đipa, focused on conflict resolution and personal empowerment. Through interactive workshops and practical tools, participants discovered how to identify conflicts and approach them constructively, while building healthier relationships. The session emphasized responsible decision-making and the role of confidence in effective leadership.
“This third UMiD module was incredibly valuable as we got to see how theory and practice really come together. (…) It reminded us that knowledge, empathy, and courage are essential leadership tools. Even though the training is over, what we’ve gained is just starting to transform us and our communities,” said participant Mia Selena Lerch.
Once again, this module demonstrated that UMiD goes beyond education by creating a space for mutual support, inspiration and personal growth. Participants left the module with new knowledge, skills and friendships, ready to share what they’ve learned with their communities.
