Two years ago, the Institute for Youth Development KULT decided to open its doors and offer something different – an opportunity for organizations to take a closer look at the Institute’s work, learn from real processes, and find inspiration to strengthen their own capacities. We called it Job Shadowing, and after two years of experience, we can say with confidence that the effort has paid off. The program has shown that sharing knowledge and expertise can have a lasting impact on strengthening the youth sector in BiH.
The numbers speak for themselves
Over the past two years, 80 representatives from various organizations have taken part in the program. For more than 90 percent of participants, this was their first opportunity to experience this type of work-oriented visit.
Evaluation results speak volumes about the program’s impact:
- 80% of participants said they were very satisfied,
- 18% said they were satisfied,
- only 2% were neutral.
Almost 95 percent of participants confirmed that the program met their expectations.
What participants had to say
The numbers tell a lot, but it’s never the whole story. The participants’ experiences tell it best.
“Bravo. Thank you all for your warm hospitality and for generously sharing information and experiences about your work. Everyone was concise, clear, and engaging. It was very helpful for us to see how you operate, reflect on how we work, and identify where we can improve. There’s always room for growth,” said one of the participants.
“Thank you for everything. It was such a pleasure to spend the day visiting the Institute. The warmth and authenticity you showed left a strong impression on me. You demonstrated how important it is to have a system and to respect it,” said another participant.
“A warm welcome, excellent organization, and dedication from the entire KULT team. Throughout the day and across all sessions, our team felt comfortable in the professional yet relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Every session was useful, and your colleagues shared their knowledge freely and answered all our questions. What’s especially valuable is that this visit is part of a wider capacity-building program, so we’ll be able to apply what we learned when developing our own rules, procedures, and strategies, and hopefully complete the process successfully,” said one of the participants.
“Thank you so much for the opportunity to visit, connect, and learn together. Keep being the best organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said another participant.
More than just a program
Job Shadowing has proven to be much more than a work visit. It is a process that connects organizations, lets us share our know-how, and strengthens the capacity of the youth sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina. What begins at the Institute for Youth Development KULT continues to ripple outward into local communities, into organizations, and ultimately to the people for whom all this work is intended.
This two-year program shows that being open and investing in others benefits all of us. We get stronger organizations, new ideas, and communities that care better for their young people.
