Through the Orange Lens: Annual Report for 2023

Violence against women and girls is a gross violation of basic human rights and is a widespread problem across the world, with Bosnia and Herzegovina being no exception. Our country was the sixth to ratify the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence, better known as the Istanbul Convention, to fight and prevent all forms of gender-based violence.

To raise awareness and take action to end violence against women and girls, the United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE 2030 campaign proclaimed the 25th of every month as Orange Day. Bright and optimistic, the color orange symbolizes a future without violence.

The Institute for Youth Development KULT has been highlighting the issue of violence against women and girls for years and celebrates Orange Day on the 25th of every month. More than 539 people took part in 12 different activities and campaigns in 2023, joining the Institute’s efforts to fight violence against women and girls.

Thirteen domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations and sixteen domestic and foreign government institutions took part in these activities.

The complete report on activities aimed at preventing violence against women and girls in 2023 is available for download HERE.

The Institute continues to celebrate Orange Day in 2024, and if you want to join us, please reach out via e-mail: razija.zukanovic@mladi.org.
