The Municipality of Vogošća will soon join the growing number of local governments with a youth strategy, demonstrating its commitment to addressing the issues and needs of young people in Vogošća.
The Institute for Youth Development KULT will support the Municipality of Vogošća in strengthening government care for young people, encouraging and empowering youth to reach their full potential.
As a key document for improving youth wellbeing, the strategy will enable a focused and realistic approach to creating an environment where young people are supported in their development.
At a preliminary meeting held in the Municipality of Vogošća, attended by Ms. Jasmina Fazlić, Head of the Department for Economy, Integrated Local Development, and Social Services, we discussed the upcoming stages in the youth strategy development process. A timeline was drawn up, and tasks were defined in detail. The meeting was also an opportunity to learn about the activities and programs the Municipality offers to young people. It’s important to note that Vogošća has previously developed and implemented two youth strategies. The upcoming Youth Strategy for 2026–2031, along with its accompanying action plan, will be the third strategic document of its kind in the municipality.
The first step in developing the strategy is a survey on the status and needs of young people. This research is already underway, led by the Institute for Youth Development KULT with support from youth organization Aktiv 2014, based in Vogošća. The survey will cover 373 individuals aged 15 to 30, whose insights will help guide the direction of the strategy. The survey results will inform the development of strategic programs and activities targeting the identified needs and problems of young people in this community, with the ultimate goal of creating new opportunities for young people in this community.
Another key step is forming a coordination body and working groups, whose members will bring expertise from diverse fields such as education, employment, social care, safety, health, arts, culture, sports, youth organizing, activism, and environmental protection. Their work will ensure that the strategy reflects the needs of young people and draws on best practices in youth policy development.
These activities are part of the project “Designing, Developing and Adopting Youth Policies”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network of youth centers for animation, development and training of Republika Srpska (M.O.C.A.R.T.) and the Association of Secondary School Students in BiH.
