Preparations are well underway for the second thematic session of the Youth Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH. The session, which will bring together key stakeholders from various sectors, aims to open a broad discussion about the position of young people in the Federation of BiH and offer concrete recommendations and measures to improve their status.
As part of the preparations, members of the Youth Committee and representatives of the FBiH Youth Council, the Institute for Youth Development KULT, and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Dragan Mioković, who endorsed plans to hold the session.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of supporting young people and addressing their challenges, which should be one of the priorities of legislators.
This thematic session is an important step toward opening constructive dialogue and creating concrete solutions.
Although the session topics are not yet fully confirmed, the discussion is tentatively planned to cover areas of education, employment, housing policy, youth participation in decision-making processes, while one special segment of the session will be dedicated to youth safety in the broader social context.
Thematic sessions play a crucial role in strengthening institutional care for young people, as they put youth issues on the radar of legislative and executive authorities at the strategic level. Such initiatives provide a platform for dialogue between young people, institutions, and civil society, ensuring that youth voices are directly included in decision-making processes. This creates conditions for building long-term policies and systematic support for young people.
This session builds on years of collaboration between WFD, the Youth Council, the Institute, and the Youth Committee. This partnership resulted in numerous recommendations and guidelines for improving the position of young people, and their progress is continuously monitored and built upon.
The goal of the thematic session is to engage all relevant stakeholders, from parliamentarians, youth organizations, the academic community and institutions, to civil society representatives, so that youth issues remain high on the political agenda and sustainable solutions are created for the challenges young people face.
