The Sarajevo Heartbeat coalition, led by the City of Sarajevo and including the Institute for Youth Development KULT, the Zora Association, the Youth Council of the Federation of BiH, and the youth councils of the municipalities that make up the city of Sarajevo, is returning from Lublin beaming with pride, after the final ceremony of the 2026 European Youth Capital competition.
Although we did not win the title this time, this experience itself was a great victory for us. We were one of the five finalists, which is a testament to the strength, enthusiasm, and commitment of our young people and youth workers. This final is not the end, but a new beginning for our city and our young people. Sarajevo’s candidacy for the European Youth Capital was an opportunity to showcase our youth’s diversity, creativity, and energy. Through this process, we have developed new initiatives, programs, and partnerships that will continue to enrich the lives of young people in the city.
We want to thank all our partners, young people, and everyone who contributed to this project. Your support and hard work are the foundation for building a stronger and more inclusive future for all young people in Sarajevo.
We continue our work, inspired by the experiences and insights that this trip has brought us. Sarajevo remains dedicated to its youth and continues to build an open, innovative, and inclusive environment where every young person can realize their full potential.
