How to be a Better Teacher?

The third module of the Learn, Think and Act! for Adults showed that we learn throughout our lives and that adults are grateful for new knowledge.

During this module, the focus was on service learning, from classrooms to active citizens who participate in creating a better society

The third module is focused on developing competencies teachers need to adequately initiate and support different actions and activities of their students in the community, civil and social activism, volunteering and other actions.

By engaging in concrete exercises and activities participants learned how they can work with their colleagues to improve classes and how to help students put to use that they learn in every subject, and encourage them to participate in the community.

“When I started this training I asked myself what I was doing here, but now I see that all the theory with practical examples are something I can use to improve my work and be better prepared for class. A lot of what we learned here is new to me. I see now that teaching theories are very important for me, as a social worker who wants to work with children.” – said Šemsudin, a social worker from Velika Kladuša.

The participants are high school teachers from across BiH, young people applying for teaching positions in BiH schools, and people in auxiliary professions such and psychologists, pedagogues and social workers.

Learn, Think and Act! for Adults is a non-formal education training intended for adults who work directly with children and youth in formal education. This training program was designed to support high school teachers in developing the competencies they need to successfully plan and conduct the learning and teaching process, based on experiential learning, effective and relevant teaching methods and strategies, while providing a safe and engaging environment  where students will feel supported and motivated and prepared for lifelong learning.

The training was designed and is being implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in cooperation with the Center for Educational Initiatives Step by Step, whose trainers work with the participants.
