The youth-government dialogue titled “Creating opportunities – the role of youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU future” brought together young activists, university students, and high school students who had the opportunity to discuss with institutional representatives how they want to be involved in reform processes and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration.
This event was organized in collaboration with the Directorate for European Integration.
The dialogue covered key questions about European integration – from how young people can be recognized as relevant actors, to how government institutions can ensure sustainable and systematic mechanisms for including youth in decision-making processes.
“I found this event a very useful experience. I particularly appreciated the opportunity to interact with people with more experience than me, because through their opinions and views I learned so much and gained a broader perspective on issues that concern us young people,” said Amir Kolerović from the BAUM Banovići Youth Association.
We also discussed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European future, and engaged young people in dialogue to identify concrete steps that institutions can take so that youth are included in driving reforms and making decisions in the context of EU accession.
The goal of such events is to open space for dialogue between young people and government representatives about how youth can become more active participants in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration process, and how institutions can establish sustainable and systematic mechanisms for including youth in decision-making processes.
Through direct communication with government representatives, participants gained new experiences, skills, and knowledge, while participating in building a sustainable dialogue between youth and government institutions.
The dialogue was organized as part of the project “Designing, Developing and Adopting Youth Policies”, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network of youth centers for animation, development and training of Republika Srpska (M.O.C.A.R.T.) and the Association of Secondary School Students in BiH.
