Ilidža Municipality Sets Course for New Youth Strategy

With four Youth Strategies already behind them, the Municipality of Ilidža has built a reputation as a community that recognizes young people’s needs and continuously works to improve their position.

Today’s first meeting of the Coordination Body and working groups marked the beginning of developing a new youth strategy, demonstrating Ilidža’s strong commitment to continuing its work on improving the lives of young people. This strategic document, which is being created in partnership with the Institute for Youth Development KULT, will lay the groundwork for systematically addressing key challenges faced by young people in this municipality.

The meeting brought together all key stakeholders – members of the Coordination Body and working groups – who will shape the strategy and action plan in the coming months. Participants introduced themselves and learned about the legal framework governing the development and implementation of the strategy, as well as the importance of this document for the community’s long-term development.

Young people make up a significant portion of Ilidža’s population, and this initiative shows the Municipality’s serious commitment to improving young people’s education, employment, civic engagement, and overall quality of life.

The meeting included outlining a clear timeline and approach to developing the strategy. The working groups and Coordination Body have specific tasks ahead with an emphasis on youth participation – young people will directly contribute to creating measures that shape their future. This approach ensures the strategy will translate into concrete initiatives and policies tailored to the actual needs of young people in Ilidža.

The Municipality of Ilidža has previously been recognized for its attention to youth issues and now further confirms its commitment to their development. This step begins an inclusive and transparent strategy development process that will ensure young people’s voices are clearly heard and considered. Moving forward, the working groups will continue defining specific measures and policies to support Ilidža’s youth in their professional and personal development.

The Ilidža Municipality is receiving support from the project “Designing, Creating and Adopting Youth Policies” is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in partnership with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO), the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Network of youth centers for animation, development and training of Republika Srpska (M.O.C.A.R.T.) and the Association of Secondary School Students in BiH.
