For years, the Institute for Youth Development KULT has been conducting training programs for young people and those who, through their professional roles, form a youth support network. This includes youth workers, youth political leaders, youth officers, teachers, and support staff in schools.
Each of the Learn, Think and Act! (UMiD) training programs is adapted to the context our participants work in, and focused on the skills and knowledge crucial for successful youth work. The training programs use interactive approaches and non-formal education methods, complementing formal education. This flexibility allows us to tailor the curricula to contemporary trends in youth work.
Over the past 18 years, our participants, especially young people, have been telling us that the one-year UMiD experience changed their lives by giving them the opportunity to value, recognize and develop their own skills, which made them better community leaders.
The Institute was invited by the Agency for Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Education of Bosnia and Herzegovina to participate in the the 7th regional EPALE conference dedicated to the European Year of Skills. The Institute presented our work as an example of good practice in working with young people and stakeholders in the youth support network on developing and strengthening skills through training programs. The conference welcomed over 100 participants from the region working in the field of adult education. During the two-day conference, experts from six countries in the region shared best practices and experiences through workshops and panel discussions. The goal was to gain new insights into European policies on adult education and the year of skills while also improving regional cooperation.
The regional EPALE conference was organized within the EPALE 2022-2024 project cycle by the Agency for Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary Education and the National Support Services (NSS) EPALE Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with the NSS EPALE teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, North Macedonia and Montenegro.
