Today, in the communities of Stanari and Doboj Istok, alongside representatives from government institutions, we began actively discussing ways to create better opportunities for young people.
By signing a cooperation agreement, the Municipality of Stanari has demonstrated its commitment to working on key initiatives in the coming period. With the support of the Network of Youth Centers for Animation, Development, and Training of Republika Srpska, the Institute for Youth Development KULT, and financial backing from the European Union, the Municipality will focus on developing a volunteer policy, establishing a fund for youth mobility, creating the position of youth officer, introducing a budget line for youth in the municipal budget, and setting up procedures for funding youth projects. All these youth support mechanisms are recognized as best practices in fostering an environment that promotes a proactive approach to building personal capacities and encouraging democratic engagement among young people.
During the meeting, the Mayor of Stanari Municipality, Mr. Aleksandar Ristić, said they were glad to be able to take advantage of this opportunity to receive support in improving the quality of life for their young people. He emphasized that these efforts will build young people’s capacities, ultimately strengthening the entire community.
The Municipality of Doboj Istok will develop a youth strategy for the 2025-2029 period. This strategy will define strategic goals in the area of youth care and employ targeted projects to implement measures and activities aimed at improving the position of young people in key areas such as education, employment, health care, social status (including housing), and security. These initiatives will create the necessary conditions for young people to realize their full potential. By focusing on improving sports, culture, activism, and access to information for young people, along with the necessary activities to achieve these goals, Doboj Istok has the opportunity to develop into a community that attracts young people.
Amir Mujić, Youth Advisor at the Municipality of Doboj Istok, noted that the collaboration on developing a youth strategy will provide an opportunity to explore in greater depth the opportunities and perspectives the community aims to offer young people in the near future. He also highlighted the importance of the support the Municipality will receive from the Institute in achieving these goals.
The results of the survey will inform the development of strategic programs and activities targeting the identified needs and problems of young people in this community. Together, these efforts will lead to new opportunities for young people.
Young people will be involved in creating better opportunities in their communities through representatives in working groups, as well as through dialogues between young people and government representatives. During these dialogues, young people and decision-makers will improve their understanding of young people’s priorities and work together on solutions.
These Municipalities are including issues important to young people in policy areas with concrete initiatives, promoting their civic, economic, social, and political participation, and strengthening their capacities. This effort reflects their commitment to following the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 and achieving the European Youth Goals.
