The CEO of the Institute for Youth Development, KULT, Jasmin Bešić, and the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, signed a partnership agreement today. This partnership means that young people in Ilidža can access 60,000 BAM to fund their activities. The agreement involves supporting and establishing a model for funding non-governmental organizations working on youth issues.
“Ilidža has always been a leader in youth work. Ilidža was the first to have a Youth Strategy in BiH. They have had a Youth Officer for 20 years. Ilidža is one of the four selected local communities because we want to improve further the best we’ve got. We want to learn from each other and improve the public funds allocation process”, said Jasmin Bešić, CEO of the Institute for Youth Development KULT.
The Institute encourages organizations to apply to the public call because the goal of strategies is to help solve youth problems.
“Together we have been trying to improve the field of youth work for years. We are trying to improve public calls, increase funds available to young people, and support as many projects as possible so that Ilidža can offer high-quality content and programs for young people. Part of this cooperation is the agreement allowing us to work together to improve the position of young people in the Ilidža municipality. Our goal is to meet the criteria to become a youth-friendly local community and to set an example for others on how to meet these conditions,” said Nermin Muzur, the mayor of the Municipality of Ilidža.
Muzur added that this is just one of many public calls for young people and that with this Agreement, the funding is doubled. This means increased support for young people and enhanced transparency in the implementation process. The associations, which also attended the signing of the contract, are satisfied with the increase in funds for their projects, as well as the increase in transparency in the implementation of public calls and projects.
“We work with young people. We provide them with training. We have been around for nine years. Young people were robbed of 2 years of their lives because of the pandemic; they were unable to go on field trips or travel. To ensure the best response from young people to our educational workshops, we plan to organize engaging one-day trips similar to student excursions, so that we can educate them along the way. It’s one of the best ways to engage young people in education, but we didn’t have the funds for it until now,” said Edisa Radončić from the EDUS Association.
“We have previously received funds from projects implemented by KULT and Ilidža. We’re grateful to Jasmin and Nermin. I see the potential for more growth through increased cooperation with institutions,” said Emir Memić from the Ilidža Volleyball Club.
Four local communities have been selected to collaborate with the Institute in supporting the development of young people. Contracts were signed with the Municipality of Ilidža, the City of Tuzla, the Municipality of Teslić, and the City of Banja Luka.
These activities are part of the Capacity Building Works initiative, which is supported by the Government of Switzerland and implemented by the Institute for Youth Development KULT.
